Intro

Got a grey wall somewhere that needs jazzing up? Then this fun art activity is just the antidote. The idea is to make fish out of foil so you create a beautiful piece of wall art – over one or more sessions. And the closer to the window you place it, the more lovely it looks as the sun glints off it. We recommend doing this as a group activity, but it works just as well one-on-one.

What you need

An extra large poster board (thick card works too)
Brightly coloured foiled paper, cut up into rough 1-2 cm squares
Suggested fish shapes in 5 parts (download resource)
Glue and spreaders

The Activity

Draw some outlines of various fish onto the board (you can do it yourself or with your artists)
Take the foiled paper and tear it into 1-2 cm squared pieces
Decorate each part of the fish in a different combination of colours
Glue each piece of foil one by one, layering it slightly each time
Continue on over a few sessions until the fish is complete
Display somewhere so that is can be enjoyed and admired by all who pass by this
