Make the most of autumn's glut of British fruit, with this simple yet delicious recipe. It’s the perfect pudding to end a hearty meal and begin your firework night celebrations.

Kick off night with the plenty of mmmms – and then move onto the oohs and ahhs when the sky is alight with colours and bangs.

This recipe makes 32 slices.

What you need

  1. ½ tbsp cinnamon
  2. ½ cup of caster sugar
  3. 2 whole apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  4. 2 tbsp butter
  5. Bowl
  6. Wooden spoon

The Activity

  1. Mix the sugar and cinnamon together well in a bowl
  2. Slice the apples
  3. Toss the apples into the sugar mix and coat well
  4. Melt the butter in a saucepan
  5. Once melted, add the apples and cook over a medium-high heat, stirring gently
  6. Cook for about 10 minutes, or until the apples are very soft
  7. Serve warm, with a little cream or vanilla ice cream. Yum!
