What you need

  1. A large bowl
  2. Lots of random words, written on individual pieces of paper or card
  3. Large sheets of paper (and a space on the wall to pin them)
  4. Marker pens

This well-known drawing game is great to play when the family are over at the weekend – or as a group game in a residential home. Just reassure everyone that they needn’t be amazing at drawing (in fact it adds to the fun if the drawings don’t look realistic!).

Top tip

If somebody really enjoys this drawing activity, you could always encourage him or her to try the Active Minds Doodle Quest. It can be done anywhere and with very little preparation!

The Activity

  1. One person picks a card from the bowl, ensuring that no one sees what it says
  2. That person then draws the item named on their card, using the paper on the wall
  3. The rest of the group have to guess what the drawing shows
  4. Whoever guesses correctly scores a point – and gets to do the next drawing
  5. The person at the end of the game with the most points is the winner
