Intro

Oh, beautiful autumn. The dramatic season when Britain is showered with golden, yellow and red falling leaves. This lovely activity brings the great outdoors in, making it especially good for people who find it hard to venture out.

We’re going to create an autumn tree display in a jar, so you’ll need plenty of leaves of all shapes, colours and sizes. Those that are able people can go into the garden or the park to gather them.

The Activity

  1. Lay out all the colourful leaves on the table.
  2. Use a vase if you’re creating a communal display or give each person a jar if everyone is creating their own.
  3. Arrange the twigs in the jar or vase.
  4. Invite the person/group to choose the leaves to adorn their twigs. Encourage them to rummage through the leaves, exploring the colours and textures as they go.
  5. Take each leaf and thread the cotton through it, then cut enough length so you can tie them to the branches.
  6. Once the branches are full with leaves and they feel they’ve added all they wish, they can enjoy their autumn display wherever they would like to place this.
