Intro

Ever fantasised about being someone else? Maybe a superhero catching villains, a detective solving mysteries – or even a bank robber! Write a short story with you as the main character. You don’t have to write much, a page or less is perfect. And remember, the fun is being whoever you want to be!

What you need

  1. Pen
  2. Paper
  3. Character suggestions (some ideas in the activity)

The Activity

  1. Help the person to choose the character they would like to be
  2. Make some suggestions, if they’re struggling
  3. You could suggest, Alice in Wonderland, Superhero, Detective, Spy, Bank Robber, Fairy, An animal in a Zoo, Spaceman/Woman, A child or a Magician to name a few
  4. Encourage the person to think about what could happen to their character, and the escapades, mischief or adventures they could go on
  5. Let the person begin to write their story
  6. Offer some help along the way, if they wish
  7. See if the person would like to read their finished story to you and others
