Intro
Quizzes are a great way to help keep the mind active, learn new things and feel good about what we do already know. Even if a person isn’t familiar with the poems in this quiz very well (or at all!), they can still have a go at guessing what word might come next, while also enjoying some beautiful poetry.
It’s a fun activity that can be enjoyed one-on-one or with up to 6 people.
What you need
- A quiz with around 20 poems - Download resource
- Printouts of each of the poems with large text
The Activity
- Invite the person or group to a quiet, comfortable space away from distractions
- Say the opening line of a poem, asking the group to guess the final word e.g. I wandered lonely as a __
- Do the same with the next poem, spending more time on the poems that people remember best and reciting more lines
- If they wish, someone in the group may like to read a poem out
- Continue on with the poetry quiz by reading lines from a handful more poems
