All you need to do to make this idea a hit is to carry out a little research with friends and family to find out more about what makes that person laugh! That way you can be sure they’re watching something that doesn’t offend them – and actually really tickles their funny bone

Although watching TV is something that can be done on your own, it’s really important for this not to be case all the time. Getting friends and family to join in encourages engagement and doubles the fun!

The Activity

  1. Spend time with your comedy fan in their room or take them somewhere quiet to watch the show
  2. Gently get them used to what’s coming by gently touching their arm, sitting at eye level and talking to them about the activity
  3. Ask them how they are and even if they can’t respond verbally, look out for signs that they’re encouraged by what you’re saying
  4. Put the show on screen – making sure it’s easy to see and the volume is at the right level
  5. Sit with them and make the odd comment about certain funny moments to keep them feeling engaged and cared for
  6. If your comedy fan has really enjoyed the show, think about putting another one on once that one’s finished
  7. Finally, bring the session to a close by talking about what’s coming up next, for instance, coffee or lunchtime
