What you need

  1. Vases of different shapes and sizes
  2. Fresh flowers (supermarkets often sell them cheaply at the end of the day)

Intro

Everyone can appreciate the beauty of a lovely bunch of flowers. And thanks the vibrant colours, soft petals and lovely floral scents; this simple activity will delight all the senses and bring a real sense of accomplishment once they’ve finished their bouquet.

Each person can arrange their flowers, sitting or standing, depending on what they’ll find most comfortable.  This can be done as a one to one or with a small group.

The Activity

  1. Display all the vases on a table and invite everyone to pick the one they’d like to use for their arrangement
  2. Lay out the flowers on the table
  3. Allow each person the time to look, feel and smell the flowers
  4. Encourage them to choose the flowers they’d like to use, stem by stem
  5. Show them how to cut the base of the stems and put them in the vase, any way they wish. Remember, it’s all about having fun and there is no “right” arrangement!
  6. Once people are happy with their creations, fill the vases with water and display them where everyone can enjoy them
  7. You can also add pretty nametags so people can remember and re-admire their creation every time they walk past
