Intro

Rustle up this fun game in minutes, with just a handful of coins, a table that’s as long as possible – and a target drawn onto a sheet of paper. The aim of the game is to get your 2p onto the target to score as many points as you can. Hopefully it will bring back the joy of playing games at school with the simplest of things, like old large pennies.

This game is great for 4 people if they’re taking turns, or 8 people playing in pairs. Of course, there is no limit to the number of spectators allowed!

Top tip

Fancy making the game more competitive? If your 2p knocks someone else’s off the target, make them lose those points. This will give you something else to aim for!

The Activity

  1. Before the game starts, draw a target onto the large sheet of paper (draw 3 circles, one inside the other, and write ‘50’ on outer circle, ‘25’ on the middle circle and ‘10’ on the outer one
  2. Prepare the table by taping the target flat onto one end of the table
  3. Invite the first person to stand at the end of the table in front of the target
  4. Ask them to lay a 2p flat on the table
  5. Tell them to slide another 2p down the table, so it hits the first 2p and moves it towards the target – you want it to land on the highest scoring ring
  6. Note down their score
  7. Get the next person to hit their 2p onto the target and carry on until everyone has had a go
  8. Play 2 or 3 more rounds
  9. Total up the scores – the winner is the person or team with the highest score
  10. Give the winners a little prize!
