What you need

  1. 15cm x 15cm patterned cotton squares
  2. Needle and cotton
  3. Dried lavender

Intro

The wonderful, heady scent of lavender conjures up images of vibrant purple fields and relaxing bubble baths. Its soothing aroma calms and relaxes, helping restless minds and bodies to drift off into a peaceful sleep.

Making these pillows in time for the clocks falling back for winter is a great way to minimise sleep disruption. Just pop the floral beside someone’s bed to encourage a good night’s rest.

The Activity

  1. Take 2 cotton squares, patterned side out and sew together 3 sides and half of the 4th side
  2. Stitch about 1cm each side to make it look like a pillow
  3. Ensure the stitching is close together to prevent any lavender falling out
  4. Using a teaspoon, fill the sachet with the lavender – but don’t do it too full
  5. Once filled, sew the remaining opening up securely
  6. If the person doesn't want the pillow by their bed, help them to make it as a gift for a loved one to use in a drawer or wardrobe
