Intro

The candy-floss-pink blossom on fruit trees looks so irresistibly soft and lush. It’s a welcome burst of colour after months of seeing only brown bark – and a sure sign that spring has sprung!

It’s well documented that art enhances the mental and emotional health of people living with dementia, so we’re going to capture the beauty of these blossoming trees in a simple painting activity.

If it’s a warm day, you might like to take this activity outside and get creative amongst nature.

The Activity

  1. Draw a tree with branches on a sheet of A4 paper for each of the residents
  2. Give a picture to each person and brush it with water
  3. Encourage each person to dot the paint onto the branches and watch the pink spread across the wet paper, creating beautiful blossoms
  4. Once the paintings have dried, frame them and hang them wherever they wish, so they can admire their artwork
