Intro

Got 5 minutes spare? This activity is a terrific time filler, quick to set up and super cheap. You simply get a deck of cards (the large print ones are ideal) and ask people whether they think the next card is higher or lower than the last. If you’re right, you keep the card and the person with the most wins!
 
It’s a fab little game to keep people entertained, especially when things don’t go to plan and you need something to do now. For example, when everyone is sat at the table and dinner is running late. 

What you need

  1. 1 or 2 packs of playing cards

The Activity

  1. Take the deck of cards and show the first person in the group the top one
  2. Ask them to guess whether they think the next card will be higher or lower
  3. If they guess correctly, give them the winning card
  4. If they guess incorrectly, play moves onto the next person
  5. Draw the next card, go to the next person and ask them to guess higher or lower
  6. Carry on until you’ve gone through all the cards (or dinner arrives!)
  7. Count up how many cards each person has – the one with the most is the winner!
