Intro

You might think fingerprint painting is just for kids, but it can be just as fun for adults. Feeling the paint between your fingers can be very satisfying and relaxing – especially when you end up with a lovely abstract piece of art.

Enjoy getting messy and unleash your creativity!

What you need

  1. Trays with a selection of coloured paints
  2. Large sheets of thick paper
  3. Bowl of warm water
  4. Towels

The Activity

  1. Give each person a large sheet of paper and a tray with a variety of coloured paints
  2. Explain that they’re going to use their fingers to create a work of art
  3. Invite everyone to dip their finger/s into the paint and start printing on the page
  4. Create abstract designs or shapes, such as flowers or trees
  5. Wash fingers with warm water between colours to keep the prints nice and bright
  6. Once the images are finished and dry, hang them somewhere for all to see!
