We're grateful to have received a heartwarming review of the Relish Day Hub from Frank, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2020, and his wife Alison. They both have found the product helpful in maintaining control and independence. The couple have been actively involved with Alzheimer's Research UK, a charity we proudly partner with. As part of our collaboration, Frank and Alison were sent a Day Hub™ and have been using it for a few months now. Their feedback is a great indicator on how our Day Clock and Task Planner can positively impact daily life. Discover how the Day Hub™ has made a positive difference in their lives by reading their full review below.
How has the Day Hub™ helped Frank with daily tasks and activities?
Alison says the Day Hub™ has been instrumental in helping Frank feel more in control and independent throughout the day. The kitchen-based Hub displays a clear list of daily tasks like "Take medication" and "Eat lunch," prompting Frank visually and audibly.
What makes the Day Hub™ easy and practical to use?
Alison found the setup straightforward, and the instructions clear. The Day Hub's™ simplicity is key – Frank can easily respond to the visual and audio cues to complete tasks. The high-definition display makes it easy for him to understand the date, time, and year.
What are some of Frank's favourite features?
- Manual Light Control: Frank enjoys the ability to switch the light from amber to green, giving him a sense of accomplishment and normalcy.
- Support for Caregivers: Alison appreciates the shared responsibility. The Hub reminds them both about tasks like taking medication, easing some of the burden on her.
- Automatic Night Light: The dimming light in the evening helps signal to Frank that bedtime is approaching.
- Customizable Clock: Alison can adjust the clock to display information that's easiest for Frank to understand, like "Wednesday evening."
- Audible Task Alerts: These gentle prompts encourage Frank to check the Hub and complete tasks.
Alison suggests a few enhancements which has helped us improve our offering.
- Additional Task Sheets: Alison mentioned that more pre-printed task sheets would be helpful for experimenting with different routines. We have therefore now added a printable task sheet for customers should they also want more.
- Managing Advanced Dementia: She notes that The Hub might be less effective for individuals with advanced dementia who may struggle to understand the prompts. We echo her thoughts here, and recommend the Day Hub™ for earlier stages and with the Day Connect being a better option for later.
Alison concluded by expressing her gratitude:
"We want to thank the designers and producers of the Day Hub™ for creating a product that empowers independence and autonomy for people living with dementia. Its simplicity is a true advantage!"
Thank you, Frank and Alison, for sharing your valuable feedback! We're committed to continuously improving the Day Hub™ to empower individuals with dementia and support their caregivers.
