Intro

Nothing says summer more than a dollop of sweet, rich ice cream. This fun, hands-on activity gets people involved in making their own colourful sundae, with scrumptious sauces, marshmallows and sprinkles to boot. Once everyone’s got creative – and maybe a little sticky – it’s time to head to the garden to tuck in before it all melts (fingers crossed for lots of sunshine!)

This activity can be enjoyed one-on-one, or in a small group.

What you need

  1. Selection of different flavoured ice creams
  2. Squirty cream
  3. Fruits, such as bananas, strawberries and kiwis
  4. Toppings, like marshmallows, chocolate drops, sprinkles and fudge pieces
  5. Sauces, such as chocolate, strawberry, raspberry or toffee
  6. Wafers
  7. Ice cream sundae glasses, if you have them

The Activity

  1. Invite each person to choose which flavour ice creams they fancy
  2. Encourage them to put a scoop or 2 into their glass
  3. Ask them to add a variety of fruit on top
  4. Get them to squirt some cream on top, and give them a hand, if they need it
  5. Encourage them to have fun sprinkling on the colourful toppings
  6. Drizzle over some sauce and finish with a wafer
  7. Ta dah! Now help everyone to the garden (if it’s sunny) to eat
