Intro
Let’s go on an imaginary shopping trip for fun! This game gets people thinking about all the things they could buy at the shops beginning with a particular letter. The answers can be anything they like – and the sillier the better! So answer quickly and see what weird and wonderful things pop into your head and out of your mouth.
What you need
- A shopping bag or basket
- 26 alphabet cards, with the letters A to Z on
The Activity
- Place the letters in the basket or bag
- Invite the group to sit in a circle
- Give the bag or basket to the first person and ask them to choose a letter
- Say to them “I went to the shops and bought a _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _” and invite them to finish the sentence by thinking of something beginning with their letter e.g. if they have a G, they could say something like golf balls, goose or gazebo
- Write down the item they say
- Put the letter to one side and pass the bag to the next person
- Keep going until all the letters have been used
- Take a look at what each each person has bought and enjoy a chuckle at some of the more unusual combinations!
