Intro

Let’s put aside an hour in the day to give the men some special time to themselves. Simply divide a private room into exclusive areas, and fill each one with a fun, stimulating or relaxing activity – anything from a sensory experience to a game of darts or draughts.

Invite as many men along who would like to join in, and be sure to have plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits to hand!

The Activity

  1. Set up the room in areas:
Put some playing cards or a draughts board out
Make a comfy seated area, with newspapers or maps
Create a quiet area, with sensory items and the rummage box
  2. Play music that will appeal to the group, such as country, jazz or some old rock ‘n’ roll
  3. Invite the group in and let them choose an area to sit in (encourage people at sensory level to sit near the music and the rummage box)
  4. Once everyone is seated, start the activities and games
  5. Move around the room, supporting each person or group with their activity
  6. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be welcomed throughout
  7. People can move around as they choose, from one activity to the next, and leave the room and come back in – this takes away any pressure and increases the chances of people getting involved
