What you need

  1. A list of starter words- download resource

Intro

Our brains are clever things, and one word often brings another to mind, and another – and another! You simply begin with a starter word and invite people to add associated words to the chain.

Words can go together like “American” and “Express” or have associations like “American” and “shopping mall”.

It’s a simple yet fun activity that really gets you thinking at pace. Enjoy in a big group, or 1-on-1 for a quick-fire game.

The Activity

  1. Kick off by suggesting a starter word
  2. Ask the first person to think of a word that connects to it
  3. Move to the next person and ask them to think of another word that connects to the last
  4. Keep going around the group in a chain
  5. If the chain goes on and on or the same words are being repeated, just break it and start a new one with a new starter word
  6. Keep the fun going until you’ve worked up the thirst for a cuppa!
