Understanding VAT Relief and Dementia Products in the UK

At Relish, we understand the importance of making life easier for those living with dementia and their caregivers. This includes finding ways to make helpful products more affordable. Did you know you might be eligible for VAT relief when purchasing dementia care products in the UK?

What is VAT Relief?

VAT stands for Value Added Tax, a sales tax applied to most goods and services in the UK. However, people with chronic illnesses or disabilities might be eligible for VAT relief on certain products designed to meet their needs.

Qualifying for VAT Relief for Dementia Products

If you or someone you care for has dementia, you might be eligible for VAT relief on products from Relish that can improve their daily life. To qualify you or the person you are buying for:

  • Need to be chronically sick or disabled (which includes dementia).
  • Using the product for personal or domestic use.
  • A registered UK charity.

How to Claim VAT Relief

On the products that are eligible for VAT relief on the Relish website, you will see a VAT relief price on the product page. On these pages there is also an option to add the product to your cart with VAT relief.

When you click this option, you will be asked 4 simple questions. Should the answers to these questions show your eligibility, you’ll be able to add the selected product to the cart and don’t worry, should you want to add another product which is also eligible for VAT relief, your answers from the first questionnaire will be saved.

Benefits of VAT Relief

By claiming VAT relief, you can significantly reduce the cost of essential dementia care products. This allows you to invest in more resources that enhance the well-being of your loved one living with dementia.
