Christmas card tree

What you need

  1. Masking tape
  2. Christmas cards from friends and family

Intro

What to do when your letterbox is overflowing with glitzy Christmas cards full of warm wishes? Turn them into a Christmas card tree for everyone to see!

You simply stick the cards to a wall in the shape of a tree, so everyone can enjoy the designs and read the lovely messages inside. (Naturally, people might prefer to keep the more personal ones private.) It’s a lovely way to share the festive cheer.

This activity is ideal for a group of residents in a care home, but also nice to do in someone’s own home.

The Activity

  1. To prepare, find large space on a communal wall
  2. Mark out a large tree-shaped triangle on the wall with masking tape
  3. Visit the wall with someone every time they receive a card and stick it there
  4. Keep layering up the cards until the tree is full of ‘leaves’
  5. As a one-to-one activity, a carer can take a resident to the card tree to look at them all and read aloud the Christmassy messages
