But Christmas really is coming, and it really will be time to decorate your tree soon. So fancy making some new decorations to jazz up your tree? These easy-to-make, eye-catching candy canes will look amazing wherever they hang.

Top tip

Why not create an attractive display for the candy canes? Simply put some twigs into a vase and hang the canes on them, then put it in a communal place for all to admire.

Worried that the treats might get gobbled up too soon?! Keep them in a safe area then each day make a special visit to the advent calendar

The Activity

  1. Tie a not in the end of the pipe cleaner
  2. Trim the excess from the end, if there is any
  3. Take the beads and alternate the colours as they are threaded onto the pipe cleaner
  4. Continue, leaving about 2cm of pipe cleaner at the end
  5. Tie a knot in this end too
  6. Gently bend one end of the pipe cleaner to make the distinctive candy cane shape
  7. Your decoration is now ready to adorn the tree!
