What you need

  1. 15 cards, with the song title and the artist written on
  2. 15 cards, with the first line of the song written on

Intro

This uplifting game is all about songs and their lyrics. It’s a whole lot of fun getting people to match the titles of popular songs with their first lines. With all that music in the air, you might find people spontaneously breaking into song!

It’s a great game to play, any time of the day.

The Activity

  1. Lay the cards with the first line of the song face up on the table
  2. Invite each person in turn to choose a song title card and try to match it with the first line of that song
  3. If playing as a group, it may help if the others start singing the song too

You might have lots of songs in mind but here’s a bunch to get you started…

  • Rock Around the Clock by Bill Haley – “One two three o clock, four o clock rock”
  • Stand by Me by Ben E King – “When the night has come and the land is dark”.
  • Delilah by Tom Jones – “I saw the light on the night that I passed by her window”
