Intro

There's nothing quite like a homemade mince pie, served warm from the oven with a glass of mulled wine, to get you into the festive spirit. This easy-peasy recipe takes no time at all, and will hopefully trigger many happy memories of baking at home.

If it’s not December, try a different recipe as the joy of baking can take people back many years.

The Activity

  1. Work together to roll out the pastry on a floured surface, roughly 3mm thick
  2. Use a pastry cutter to cut out round shapes for the mince pie base
  3. Put the pastry discs onto the greased baking tray and scoop in a dessertspoon of mincemeat
  4. Cut out star shapes and place them on top of the mincemeat.
  5. Glaze with a little egg wash
  6. Bake these in the oven for 15-20 minutes on 220C/200C fan/gas 7
  7. Once the cooked mince pies are cool enough to eat, enjoy together with a glass of mulled wine or a cup of tea and reminisce about past baking days and Christmas
