What you need

  1. Soft(ish) ball
  2. Table (large for a group)
  3. Small prize (optional)

Intro

Ready for a little tabletop fun? This game is as simple as rolling a ball back and forth between friends, making sure it doesn’t fall off! If you let it drop, you hand your opponent a point. (Scoring isn’t essential but it’ll add a little competitive spirit, especially if there’s a prize at the end!)

This game is a good seated movement activity – and can be whipped up in minutes. It’s great for 2 people sitting opposite one another but can be played by more people at a bigger table.

Top tip

Playing with someone at sensory level? Don’t worry if they’re not engaged with the scoring. Just let them enjoy the movement and fun of the activity.

The Activity

  1.  Gather the group, small or large, at the table
  2. Give the ball to one person to start the game
  3. Invite one person to roll the ball to the person opposite (if 2 people) or to another person around the table
  4. Each person keeps rolling it back and forth to others around the table trying to stop it falling
  5. Continue with the game for as long as people happy to do this
  6. If keeping score add up the points as you go along and declare the winner when the game has ended
